Hi there I'm now looking to build a pc. I'm wondering what OS to install I've got windows 7 installed on my laptop, at moment and for loads of programmes on there I would want to inatall on the new pc. On Windows 8, is windows 8 better to have and worth getting instead of 7. I'm happy with 7 but read some where 8 is optimized better and do in. Being new it makes it better in ways. But if i won't be able to use programmes that I got on my windows 7 on there I won't bother. shall I just go with Windows 8 if you can I will be using it for video editing and pc gaming. And music production I will be using my laptop to surf net and that. Let me know what you think thanks

Windows 8 is better than 7 in terms of performance. It's much less hardware intensive and there are minimal compatibility issues.

With regards to your applications, you will have to re-install them should you decide to upgrade.

HERE you can find the upgrade assistant which will give you an in depth break down of what will transfer and what won't.
