Will Windows 7 work on tablets?

I recently bought an unbranded windows 8.1 tablet. (it's brand is unbranded and it's from best buy) and I want to put windows 7 on it. I can easily do so by putting windows 7 on a usb and installing it but I want to know. One is I know windows 7 technically supports touchscreen, but would it really work after installing? two would things like the built in camera/webcam still work? What is the risk?

Windows 7 would be awful to use on a tablet from a navigation and usability point of view. Whatever people say about Win 8.1 on a desktop it is very good on a tablet. Also without proper drivers you may have issues with any of the hardware. Also Win 8.1 runs very well on low powered devices such as tablets, Win 7 I would expect to be slower

Tablets with x86 cpu's (as opposed to ARM) can run Windows 7 if they meet the other hardware requirements. Overall, it is not a pleasant experience.

We had some Win 7 tablets at work, and they ran quite hot, had short battery life, and did not otherwise run well at all.

That Samsung was built from the ground up, I expect, as a laptop without the keyboard...or, if you prefer, a small AIO. They're talking about the typical tablet, NOT one expressly built as a Windows platform. I also agree that 8's interface would fit better on a tablet; the complaint with 8 is that forcing the tablet UI model onto a desktop is a terrible idea...but it's fine on a tablet. I rather suspect I'd rather run 8.1 on that tablet, and NOT 7.

Also note: this is a factory installed OS. They've got the drivers for the various parts. A standard Win 7 distro might NOT work, due to not having the drivers.

I also note that device is pretty much being dumped...MSRP $1200, asking $400. Of course, the model's 3 1/2 years old.

With only 2 gigs of ram I would stick with Windows 8. It's less resource intensive than Windows 7. And as stated by others, Windows 8 is better for tablets than Windows 7.

Yes got everything. If I do decide to install 7 how do I revert back to 8.1 without a product key the way it is now?

Well I guess I decide to keep 8.1 or upgrade to 10. I can use windows 7 anytime I want to on my windows 8.1 laptop via VMware. In fact I have windows 98, me, 2000, xp, vista, 7 all as virtual machines which I can use whenever I want to. But at least If I really decide to change my mind about my tablet, I know my options.
