Will Windows 8 or Windows 7 run faster on my computer?

I have a Compaq Presario PC SR5710y with Windows Vista Service Pack 2 32-bit. I was thinking of upgrading the windows to a 64-bit version of Vista but then I thought wouldn't the OS be much smoother if I upgraded it to windows version 7 or 8 64-bit. So my question is will windows 7 or 8 64-bit be faster than my windows vista 32-bit, if not should I just upgrade windows vista to 64-bit.

Both 7 and 8.1 will run faster than Vista. Even with the updates and service packs Vista is still a dog. As for which is faster 7 or 8.1, 8.1 boots up a little faster but other than that they are pretty much the same. It comes down to what interface you prefer between 7 and 8.1, but both are available for a free Windows 10 upgrade.

Note: If you change to 64-bit Windows, you should have at least 4gb RAM for best results.

Yes, so long as it is done before 7/29/16. Microsoft really wants to kill off Windows 7 and 8.1. Windows 7 will probably be harder to get rid of than XP is/was though.
