Hi!

Apparently my hdd broke down after some time, i noticed it was slow etc so i formatted it and removed all files beforehand. But the problem is, that even if i have my os (win 10) installed on my ssd i cannot boot windows becuase windows needs some files from the hdd that is hidden.

So now that the hdd is broken i cannot boot windows, and when i try to reinstall windows on my ssd disk windows cant detect my ssd disk, even though i can see it in mt boot priority list.

Ive seen some people use Shift+F10 in the installer, but i have no idea what to write to make the disk visible in the list... I guess i have to format it and then reinstall windows thereafter?

If it has anothing to do with it, my ssd is connected to sata port 2.

Could anyone guide me to make my pc find the ssd in the installer?
I'm installing via a usb memory stick with windows media tool.

Should i also use my ssd in sata port 1?

Best regards,
Rasmus

That's the same error message as in my screenshot.

Ok - let's try it this way:
1. connect your ssd to another working pc with windows on it;
2. create a small 100mb primary partition on SSD;
3. download intel usb3 drivers, extract them,
download.msi.com/dvr_exe/intel_usb30.zip
4. find Intel_USB_3.0_xHC_Driver_3.0.5.69_MR5_PV.zip, extract it;
5. Locate folder Intel_USB_3.0_xHC_Driver_3.0.5.69_MR5_PV\Drivers and copy it to partition on SSD;
6. put SSD back into your pc and boot from windows installation media;
7. when prompted for drivers, load them from SSD. There will be 2 drivers:
USB host controller switch driver and
USB extensible host controller driver;

This should allow to continue with windows installation.
Diskpart:

Microsoft diskpart version 10.0.15063.0
On computer: MINWINPC

list disk:

Disk 0, Online, 238 GB, 238 Free

Select disk 0 - -

List partitions: There is no partition on this disk to show. (is this the problem??)

list volume:
Volume 0, Letter D, type dvd-rom, status no media.

No other volume.
Im using usb to install.

If you need any other info just write and ill do my best to gather it.

There is no OS on your SSD. Apparently you have cleaned it too.

Boot from Windows installation media and when you get to this screen, press "New":

Problem is that my ssd isnt showing, it says that i should chose some sort of driver or something, and then tells me that theres no driver to chose from. I never get to the part where i can chose which disk to use at all... Tells me to "search again" or i can open my folders and chose from there...

Your diskpart commands didn't list USB flash drive, so I suspect installation needs USB drivers.

Alternatively, if your DVD drive is sata connected (not USB connected), you could try booting from windows installation DVD and install that way.

Are you sure, you have tried black USB ports?

Hi again,

How come its possible to install os on a fresh disk out of the box but not this disk thata formatted?
And i only have usb, no windows cd at the moment :-/

Yeah ive tried the black usb 2 ports and usb 3, and 3,1 same result on all ports.

If the error you're getting is from that screenshot in one of my previous posts, then this has nothing to do with drive being formatted or not.

BTW you didn't give precise error text. So quite a lot of guessing here.

I can only install in swedish, but i can show you the popup and try to explain what it says

Check this img
https://ibb.co/e85qYk

It basically says that some sort of media driver is missing from he computer, it can consist of a dvd, usb or hard disk driver. If the driver is present on a cd/dvd or usb insert it into the pc now.

Thanks for trying to help me
