Win 10 Crash on Acer Aspire V5-531 Hard or Software Problem?

I recently finished installing Windows 10 Pro 64x on an Acer Aspire V5-531 laptop. Although it is not on Acer's approved list for the Windows 10 upgrade, everything appeared to install fine. Of course only now, after spending all that time, has an issue cropped up. The following problem occurs only randomly and sometimes does not manifest at all when using the computer. Other times it happens several times in a row making for a very frustrating user experience and worrying me about potential damage to the hardware caused by forced restarts. I'll be using the computer, and then all of a sudden these little blocks of gunk, sort of like static mixed with barcode, will appear horizontally all over the screen causing the computer to freeze up completely. (See photo) I cannot use it at all until I hold down the power button to force a shut off. If it's happened several times in a row the only way to get the computer to start again is to hold down the power button for 2 minutes. The lines always appear while I'm using the trackpad. If I completely let go of the computer, they go away. The computer is still frozen but the lines are gone. But if I press any of three seemingly sensitive spots, (right above the USB ports, the plastic above the hard drive, or the bottom right-hand corner of the trackpad), on the computer after that, they'll appear again. (See photo) I've tried pressing these spots when the problem is not manifesting itself, but I can't recreate the problem consistently, which makes me think it might be a driver or software problem and not a hardware one. I've even opened up the computer to double-check that nothing is wrong on the inside but from what I can see, there are no loose wires or connections. I have upgraded the laptop with an SSD and added 4 GB of RAM, bringing the total to 8 GB. I can attach logs if needed, but I've not experienced any BSODs so not sure if it's necessary. I'm fairly experienced with computers and have done many repairs on them, but this problem really has me stumped and I'd greatly appreciate any help.

I solved this a few weeks ago by myself and am posting the solution here in case anyone else faces the same problem in the future. A faulty stick of RAM was causing the problem. I fortunately had an extra stick installed in the laptop and running Window's memory diagnostic showed that the old RAM was malfunctioning. The test could complete on the working RAM, but would cause a crash on the faulty stick. So if you're having this problem, check your RAM!
