Hello everyone,

A few months from now, support for Windows 10 will end, and updates will no longer be available for free—it needs to pay for extended updates.

If someone is unable to upgrade to Windows 11 due to hardware limitations or compatibility issues, bypassing the Windows 11 requirements using unofficial software or methods might lead to system instability and performance problems, as Microsoft warns.

What are the possible solutions in this situation?Rather than using Linux OS , To be more specific: Is there any way to continue receiving important updates (for free)after support ends, and will it still be possible to get Microsoft Defender updates for free?

Thank you

Is there any way to continue receiving important updates (for free)after support ends
Nope, Microsoft locks you out unless you happen to have the secret stash of codes from their developers.

and will it still be possible to get Microsoft Defender updates for free?
You can continue using Windows 10 with your current hardware, circumvent Windows Defender's need by using another anti-virus but if there's a vulnerability on the OS side of things and/or you need to install a device that needs drivers that in turn needs a patch/update from the OS, you're left stranded. Case in point of the latter, I had to ditch my Z97 Stinger platform after a particular update ruined my functional install of Windows 10 until I realized my BSoD's...

Case in point of the latter, I had to ditch my Z97 Stinger platform after a particular update ruined my functional install of Windows 10 until I realized my BSoD's were being triggered by the OS constantly downloading the wrong chipset driver in spite of me manually installing a prior stable version. I learned that the issue is easily solvable if Microsoft released a patch. Their response when people asked for Z97 support, they said we're not going to drop any more resources into that platform(paraphrased).

I quit waiting and jumped onto an AM5 platform...so technically I'm set for Windows 12 when it comes out.

I never thought it’d need a new system just to use an operating system! Is there any reason behind this idea rayher than Microsoft indirectly forces users to get a new system—otherwise, they stop receiving the most important parts of the OS. It’s kind of funny!
