Question Win 10 freezes but cursor still moves

Jan 19, 2017
Hi all!

I've been having an issue lately which so far I've been unable to solve.
The issue appears to happen at random intervals but it has been getting more and more frequent. What's happening is after a period of time, apps start to freeze one by one. I can bring up task manager once and try to kill some apps from there but after the first app is shut down, the task manager freezes as well. At that point I can still ctrl+alt+del and sign out or restart but everything else is unresponsive.
Found a thread about it on the MS forums which is similar to mine:

Tried the supposed fix in the last comment but it didn't help.
I also tested the RAM sticks one by one. They are all fine.
Tried defragmenting /optimizing the drives. Didn't help either.
Everything is up to date.
