I have a HUGE PROBLEM... I have an AMD 1.4 Athlon, Asus a7a 266, 2 x 256 ddr pc2100 ram. Scsi drives, cd's etc...

I am installing win 2000 on a new hd. Seagate cheetta 15000 rpm. I get to the hardware screen, then i get a blue screen. I reboot, then i get a little further, and ANOTHER BLUE SCREEN!! I have gotten as far as the start menu setup, and then THE DAMN BLUE SCREEN!!!! I get different errors all the time, but they all prompt me to reboot!

I DONT HAVE A CLUE WHAT TO DO!!!

I have ripped out all of my scsi things, put in an ide hd, ide cd rom, and STILL THE SAME THING!!

Any ideas, PLEASE HELP:)

Regards

My first inclination would be bad ram. Since you already removed the scsi adapter and devices (which would have been my first guess). Just to give us some background... has this m/b and processor been used before or are they virgin? There's a lot of things that can cause windows to blue screen. Try installing with all extraneous hardware removed just in case. It's certainly hardware related it sounds like, but which hardware and why?

if the ram was bad, would it not be dectected in the bios? I have read of people having the same problem as I... And the only thing we all have in common is the same MOTHERBOARD!! Maybe that is the problem... I have tried everything, except taking 1 ram chip out of the second socket... (I read somewhere that it could be the problem) But why would asus sell a motherboard with a 2nd slot u cant use????

....I have 2 mcse looking at the pig (computer lol) right now, before i throw it off my deck!!
