hello,

I am trying to install win 2000 professional over win 98se. I run into the problem during installation saying win 2000 can't verify my hard drive. Then it says that I either might not have enough memory to check the drive or files might be corrupted on my win 2000 disk. I am using a burned copy of the win 2000 disk, but it is a legal copy available through my school. Has anyone run into this error? Is there a way I could just format and install win 2000 without reinstalling 98?

most of my setup

athlon xp 1600+
256 ddr pc 2100
soyo K7V Dragon + mobo
msi gf 3 ti 200
creative audigy platinum sc

thanks for the time

Is your windows 2000 CD bootable? If not, you'll have to create 4 floopy disks. If it's bootable, change boot sequence in BIOS to boot from your CD/DVD drive.

How large is your hard drive, and how much free space do you have on it?
I believe that the installation process requires a particular amount of hard drive space (eg 1 gigabyte), which after installation is deleted. But dont quote me.

Hi all, thanks for the replys. I talked to a tech at school and they said to go with the boot disks. I did that, everything went fine until shortly after I put in the win 2K cd. It ran for a bit and then stopped and said that windows couln't find the End-User License Agreement (EULA). A fellow class mate installed this right before I did and didn't have any problems. They are tight about software at school and I know it is a legal copy. Any ideas? Can I find it somewhere?

I searched my win2k cd, and found a file eula.txt in the |386 folder. Does this need to be elsewhere?
Gettin a bit closer. . .
