I just loaded a new computer with Win 2K. It was working fine and could access my other computers through my router. I decided to load Service Pack 3 to get all of the security updates. After the install I am unable to access the other machines (Win 2K SP2).

I made sure the workgroup name was correct and nothing.

Does anyone have any ideas on what is wrong??

Thanks,
MEP

SP3 has been known to scramble network setups. Check all your networking settings against your other machines, probably something stupid has happened... an IP erased, a dot that became a comma... that kind of thing.

--->It ain't better if it don't work<---

I forgot to mention that the new machine can still access the internet through the router. Its set to acquire IP addresses and DNS server addresses automatically. I thought is was weird that it could access the internet but not the other computer.

Thanks,

I was using network neighborhood to try to access a drive on the old machine. Network neighborhood timed out trying to find the machine.

I used your advice and checked ipconfig on the new machine and it couldn't find a default gateway. I gave it a ip address and the same gateway as the old machine and they can now see each other in the network neighborhood.

THANKS!!
