Im formatting a really old pc thats running win 10 slow, the processor is an intel atom 330 from 2008 which is 64 bit and 2 gb of ram, now my question is, will 32 bits run faster on this pc because of its low specs or will its native 64 bits OS run better?

Solution
I wouldn't put XP on any system connected directly to the internet.
Something Linux would be better than XP.

No matter what OS you put on it....it is a slow system.
I have a 2009 Toshiba laptop. 2GB RAM, Celeron 2.2GHz CPU. It is similarly slow, no matter what OS is on it. 7/8.1/10/Linux.

Simply because it is a slow system.

It is currently running Win 10 64bit, as my general testbox.

It runs slow, because it is a slow system. A 10 year old Atom system will be slow, no matter what you put on it.

You won't tell the difference between 64bit and 32bit, but just install the 32bit.

Well.. im gonna do a fresh W7 64 bit install, and disable aero and all the fancy stuff, if it keeps being sluggish ill try with XP

Of course i would put ubuntu on it, it is the perfect solution, but it isnt for me, its for an old lady who just plays solitaire and browses the net, i dont want to disturb her too much with the linux experience lol

Properly set up, a typical user would not notice for that usage.
A few years ago, my daughter and friend were living with me for the summer. I gave her an older laptop to use.
Linux. Ubuntu, I believe.

She did not notice the difference. Firefox is Firefox. Gmail is Gmail. Solitaire is Solitaire.

But....either way you go...Win 7, 10, Linux, 64bit or 32bit....it won't be any real user difference.
Slow is slow.
