I have recently built a new PC from scratch, currently I am experiencing an issue which I believe to be a display driver issue.

When I attempt to install my graphics driver (Nvidia Geforce GTX 560) and attempt to reboot my PC it proceeds past the POST/Asus Logo screen and onto the "Loading Windows" screen, after the logo appears and finishes loading, instead of it moving on to my login screen it hangs on a blank BLACK screen with just my mouse pointer visible.

I have tried running the repair tool on the windows 7 disc, and in safe mode with no avail it tells me nothing is wrong. I attempted to run the start up repair and that also says nothing is wrong.

I have attempted to clear out all the stock drivers via driver sweeper, and clean the registry with ccleaner, downloaded the newest mhql to my desktop and attempted to install it in safemode, though this didn't work either.

Is this a common problem? Anyone have any ideas? been troubleshooting for a week now, can't find much online.

Have you connected all the PCIe power connectors to your video card? I have a Gigabyte 560 SOC card and it requires two 6-pin PCIe power connectors.

You definitely have the power supply for it.

If that is the case, ensure the GPU is seated firmly in the PCIe slot. Otherwise, get another GPU (if you have one) and use that to see if things work.

If another GPU works, then it might mean you have a bad GPU card.
