Win 7 explorer does not format dvd

My win 7 explorer does not show me an option to format a Writeable DVD. What can I do to get this option?

I'm not sure I understand what you are asking. Why would you need to format a DVD are you using a rewritable?

Normal dvds are ALREADY formatted....

REWRITABLE dvds need formatting (if you want to)

If the DVD has info/files/movies basically anything at all on it and its only a Writable, then you cannot format it. If you had a REWRITABLE DVD then sure knock yourself out. USB flash drives are the way to go now-a-days for data storage/transfer and they pack a lot more storage space than a DVD.
