I need to replace the mobo, but there is nowhere stocking the same model I can find. I have a list of some alternatives, but as I know it you cannot transfer the OEM Win 7 license to another mobo. This still true?

Current mobo is the Gigabyte GA H87 HD3.

I talked to ms support and they said it was okay to do so.

I'm confused.

Should work, will likely require the phone reactivation which is automated. If you talk to someone only tell them you are repairing a computer and had to do a reinstall. Never even hint that you are 'transferring' or using it on a 'new' computer. They can interpret that to mean you are trying to use it on more than one computer and deny the reactivation.

Okay thanks for clearing that up. Hopefully I won't encounter any issues.

Thanks for that tip. Largely true in my case.
