Hello,

This is a rather strange question I got here.My pc stopped functioning two weeks ago so after a visit to my local computer shop I got mobo and graphics card replaced. After that, the computer kept on restarting when on windows 7.I had ram replaced, hard drive replaced - even the cpu.And now we reach the final problem :
Whenever I try to install a 64-bit operating system like Windows 7 64-bit or Ubuntu Linux 9.10 64-bit the installation process halts either by a BSOD or by a linux error.Weird thing is that I can install any 32-bit operating system with no problem and it works just fine.My current configuration is as follows

Intel® Core™2 Duo Processor E8400 (6M Cache, 3.00 GHz, 1333 MHz FSB),ASUS P5Q Deluxe, Kingston 8GB DDR2-667 Ram Kit (2 x 4 GB, PC2 5400, 5-5-5-18),
1TB HDD WD Sata,
500GB HDD WD Sata,
Nvidia GeForce GTS 250

Also I need to add that Windows 7 Ultimate installation stops during the 'expanding files ' operation. The BSOD refers to a hard disk problem but there is none there - the disk is new and tested thoroughly by a number of diagnostics.Could it be a motherboard incompatibility there or some other hardware issue?I've tried installing (always fresh install on formatted disks) with no usb devices attached and performed a BIOS upgrade but in vain.

Any help would be deeply appreciated

do you have a real copy of win7 or are you using one downloaded off the net? if you have a corrupted win7 installation DVD then contact windows and let them know, its only the Key they are worried about not the actual Installation disc.
