Win 8 to 10 "couln't be installed"

Hi All,
Total noob question here, so could use some insight.

I cloned a 250gb SDD to a new 500gb SSD for my C: since all my software takes up so much space, cache, etc. Currently running Win 8.1

I've been attempting to upgrade to Win 10 and get the "We couldn't update the system reserved partition"

Now, there's a part of me that sort of understands what's happening, but don't trust myself to just start picking things apart without asking first. Can someone fill me in on what's happening and what the best approach is?

Put the 250 back in, upgrade to 10, clone to the 500. All done.
It sounds like the System Reserved Partition didn't get cloned btw.
