I have tried for a few weeks now to no avail. My laptop and desktop simple hate each other. They both run off windows 8 Pro 64 bit (legal versions) but wont pick each other up.
I have tried connecting the LAN cable straight from laptop to desktop, going through a router, and desktop in the router while laptop on wifi. I have used 2 different routers (netgear and billion) and about 6 different LAN cables of different makes and sources.
I have tried restarting and formatting the pc's. I have managed to get my laptop to see my desktop as a 'media device' in the network window, but not vice versa.
They used to pick each other up when my desktop was on windows 8 and the laptop on windows 7.
I need to get them working because I am working on projects around the size of 4-6GB (photoshop, coding and apps) which I need to transfer the files via network as I cannot keep waiting 15 min to transfer 3GB ONTO the usb and off again.
Please help me out, I have searched for weeks and still cannot figure it out.
