Why not just get a second hard drive for the new OS, and run two operating systems? It's really easy to do, and gives you more options. You might like having more than one bootable OS, while you learn the differences between the two.
Then you can run WinME or Win98SE for OpenGL games, and DirectX games in Win2k. Best of both worlds. Win2k can do both, but Win9x appears to still be somewhat faster for OpenGL.
WinME may be a slightly faster for gaming (when stripped for performance), but if you have older games, Win98SE has the edge. And it's an over-all more stable OS than WinME, with better non-Plug-n-Play support.
You could put both operating systems on one hard drive, but two is much better.
That's my two cents, for what it's worth. Opinions may vary. But that's my current setup, and nothing has ever run better.

P.S. I didn't look at your system specs before running my mouth. Since you already have two hard drives, you are all set, if my idea appeals to you. Last suggestion ... with Win2k, how about more RAM? Another 128MB stick would be much appreciated by your system, and prices may never be lower than they are right now.
Are you really getting that good a download speed with @Home cable? Whew! No one in my area gets better than a megabit with the same service, which is why I'm on ADSL.
