I know I cant be the only one with this problem. I had win98se on a clean install on a new machine. I have had no problems so I decided that a upgrade to Win Me might be a good choice. Well perhaps I was wrong. All has gone well except for the fact that while Im on the internet I may as well be surfing on a glacier. It is much slower than 98. I have done all of the obvious things like reinstalling the modem driver, went through the network settings and so on but I dont need this much sleep. I would go back to 98 except for the fact that it doesnt recognize more than 2 partitions and this is a dual boot me/2000 with 4 partitions all FAT 32. What could win me have changed that I am not seeing? I am going to go through the MTU and TTL settings shortly but I dont believe that it will help. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

One difference in WinME is the PC Health Scheduler. When you first install WinME, it seems to run continuously . I changed the settings so that it runs once every 6 hours and that improves performance for me. You also have the option to disable it, but it is handy to have if something has screwed up the operating system.

Settings/control panel/Scheduled Tasks/PC Health Scheduler...
