I've got a PC that will not boot into Windows. It gets to the Windows XP screen then restarts.

Even in Safe Mode it gets to a file called gernuwa.sys as it's scrolling through the loading sequence then restarts again. (This file may not be relevent but thought I'd mention it.)

This continues until it's powered down.

The AntiVirus software was up to date prior to this problem starting. The PC was fine the night before and the next morning this is what happens.

Thanks for any ideas you may have!!

This is most always the cause of a corrupt driver. Now's the time for your backup. An image would take less than an hour to restore.

There are some other possibilities. The other regulars will be along soon.

If you can, boot into DOS mode and delete this file. It can be found in the windows/system32/drivers folder. It is not an integral system file and is used by such programs as PCAnywhere and is commonly used by malware.

It's running NTFS no way to boot to DOS. I guess I could put HDD in another PC and delete that file?
