HI All
Dont know which board this goes on but I think its CPU related. Heres the story.
I got four Old pc's from work. All running 98SE or Win2000 at the time. So now that I have them I want to upgrade the OS.
They are Pentium III 600Mhz, with 128mb Ram. The motherboards are all ECS Elitegroup P6BAT-A+(2.0).
However when I try to do a full reinstall with Win2k or WinXP it hangs after it boots into Windows Setup (after a few seconds) .I am however able to do a fresh install of windows 98 and then upgrade to Win2k or Xp through Windows98. At work there is one other computer of the same spec that was upgraded to windowsXP without a problem however the processor was 733Mhz. I've tried changing every thing with the same results, I've emailed the motherboard manufacturer but was ignored and also tried the FAQs. I think its a confict between the board & processor.
Can anyone help.

Really should be in the Windows XP section, as I don't think there is a problem with the board/processor else chances are you wouldn't be able to get Win98 installed.

Anyway, what (if any) error messages do you get / how exactly does the install fail?

Sometimes you need a bios update in order to run 2k/xp, i dont remeber exactly why something to do with PXE boot or whatever.
If its a Hp etc they should ahve a bios for your mobo...
Onyl weird thing is that the upgrade works
