Hello all,

Long time reader, first time poster.

I am hoping to find a solution for a recent blue screen issue I have been having my Windows 10 gaming PC. I built the PC around Christmas and it was working fine until a few months ago when it started to blue screen. At first it would happen when playing GTAV only but now it will happen when I am doing seemingly anything such as watching videos on YouTube or browsing simple text based sites like Jalopnik.

Originally when I noticed issues in the event viewer I saw an issue with a wireless mouse I was using so I stopped using it and removed the drivers, no change. Then I noticed graphics card driver issues happening. I reinstalled the driver's but kept having issues. At this point I was using a borrowed GTX690. I suspected the GPU may be having issues due to it's age.

Before replacing the GPU I tried a few more 'nuclear" options to see if I could fix this. I updated the Gigabyte G1.SniperZ170 motherboard to the latest BIOS version and still was encountering crashes. I am running Samsung 840 EVO SSD's so I formatted them using the Samsung Magician and updated them to the latest firmware version due to the possibility of accelerated degradation these drives encounter. Afterwards I installed a fresh version of Windows 10. This computer's OS was originally a good copy of Windows 7 that I used to upgrade to 10.

At this point I am still encountering blue screens. When the :( pops up I see KERNEL_SECURITY_CHECK_FAILURE. I was running an XMP profile on my RAM but has since turned it back to stock. The GTX690 was replaced with a new GTX1070 as it was the only used component in the build.

As of this point I am still encountering blue screens every 5 days or so. It happened twice in a row tonight. I'm nearing my wits end with this PC so I am hoping the collective knowledge here will be able to help me solve this issue.

On my latest blue screen this is what the Event Viewer listed:

The computer has rebooted from a bugcheck. The bugcheck was: 0x00000139 (0x0000000000000003, 0xffffd000edec75a0, 0xffffd000edec74f8, 0x0000000000000000). A dump was saved in: C:\Windows\MEMORY.DMP. Report Id: 914e4f4d-2b74-4aba-a6d2-16b0ae81a649.

Solution
over all, i would install the hp printer driver i you use the printer maybe move the printer to a usb 2. port
maybe update the xbox driver
reboot and see if you hit the same problem.

---------
bughceck was in some xbox controller driver
\SystemRoot\System32\drivers\dc1-controller.sys Thu Oct 29 19:46:54 2015
something overwrote its stack, it could be the driver itself or another driver like these below:

I would guess these drivers are messing the system up:
\SystemRoot\system32\DRIVERS\Dot4.sys Mon Aug 06 10:01:00 2012
\SystemRoot\System32\drivers\Dot4Prt.sys Thu Aug 02 10:35:46 2012
\SystemRoot\system32\DRIVERS\dot4usb.sys Mon Jul 13 17:00:20 2009

do you have some usb to parallel port converter? or a very old parallel port...

do you have some usb to parallel port converter? or a very old parallel port printer connected?
most likely it is your HP photosmart estation All-in-One Printer - C510a just needs to have its drivers installed:

look here, you might put the device on a USB 2.x port rather than a USB 3.0 port.
see if this is the correct device and if so install the drivers rather than using the old ones microsoft has.

Hi John, thanks for your reply.

I have moved both the Xbox one controller and HP printer to regular USB 2 ports and have updated the HP printer to the latest driver found on the HP support site. The Xbox one controller is already at the latest driver version.

I'm not running any sort of parallel port system or adapter. Just a USB extension that the Xbox one controller is plugged into.

I will see if theses changes make any difference and report back. Thank you.
