I followed this guide (https://www.windowscentral.com/how-transfer-windows-10-license-new-computer-or-hard-drive) to prepare the key for migration

It did the following things:
1. Uninstalled the product key from that system and its registry

When I used the key on a new build, it didn't come up with an error. Microsoft accepted it fine. It wasn't until I rebooted the system when it shows at the bottom right of the screen that I need to "activate" windows again.

When I go on settings to "activate" it, I get the error: 0x803FA067

Key important things about the key:

  1. The system didn't come with WIN 10; It had WIN8 first, which was then upgrade to WIN10
  2. The key is genuine. I bought the computer brand new. I also checked the key before uninstalling it to confirm it is full vers retail.

Here is the error I get:

Only people that can fix activation issues are Microsoft anyway. If it doesn't move, contact them. And hope you get someone who knows how it should work, as many over there at one stage didn't know you could move it like this, even though its on their website.

As long as its linked to email and you don't use old PC afterwards, it should just move.
