This is kind of an odd situation. I recently bought a Dell Inspiron 3650 from a bad source. Sold as new, it is in fact refurb (says Dell support). It has mucho hardware problems and will be returned. However, the software is now configured well and I would like to keep that HDD image. Data and applications have been put onto the 3650, including a $150 copy of MS Word.

I want to buy that same machine/mobo again and just clone the old HDD image onto the new machine. I have unused HDDs of that size.

Here's the problem ... the original 3650 has Win10 Home on it. The 3650 was "last year's model" and its availability now is only just OK. The "good sources" that I would like to buy from only have machines with Win 10 Pro on them.

I am worried that when I pair an HDD with Win10 Home on it with a mobo licensed for Win10 Pro that there will be problems.

As far as I understand the validation for the licensing for a preinstalled OEM copy of Windows comes through the SLIC table in the UEFI/BIOS.

Can this sort of HDD/mobo combo "pass licensing muster" and most importantly (for me) will the machine fail some kind of automated licensing validation when the machine is connected to the internet?
