win2k freezes at startup

What would cause Windows 2000 to freezes as soon as it loads into Windows? Happens every time it boots. I have tried installing with all unneccesary hardware out of the system with no luck. My only guess is the memory is bad. I have 128 MB of 800mHz Rambus memory. Windows 98 works with it, but since Win 2000 handles memory differently, that might be a problem. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Try to boot in "safe mode" by pressing the space bar. You'll see exactly were it freezes. Is it a new installation ? If not, try the "last known good configuration" (when pressing the space bar)
