Win2K Support

the word from microsoft is that the win 2k and win xp OS's are in the same family, and will be supported together for the near future. I know, bad memories abound from the major jump from nt to 2k, especially when microsoft cancelled support for the nt MCSE exams, etc. this is different....

i would go with windows 2k fo the bulk of your machines as its been out for a while and there is a growing knowledge base to support you. in addition, most of the bugs have been ironed out with sp 2. i would not want to be the pioneer of a migration to xp (or any brand new software for that matter) in an office nevironment (home is different). Moreover, you can then integrate any new machines after that point with xp. they are really very similar systems. more like 98 and ME are - just minor cosmetic changes. the core of the OS is the same, especially for the server software.

ignore everything i say
