Win7 Backup aborts with error code 0x81000037

Windows backup gets to 57% and fails with "Windows Backup failed while trying to read from the shadow copy on one of the volumes being backed up. Please check in the event logs for any relevant errors. (0x81000037)."

It's been working fine until recently.

Try disabling your antivirus during the backup process.

If that doesn't work, then MS has a workaroud for the problem HERE under issue 2, and I found it to work.

I have tried disabling my antivirus program and the MS workaround issue 2, with the same end result problem.

Hmm, workaround 2 worked for me to remove the disk reparse points. Is your virtual disk service running?

edit: IIRC when I had the issue there was a long thread on Sevenforums last summer that was helpful.

I have been running Windows backup, successfully, for more than a year to my server. It has stopped, only recently, with the error I mentioned. The Windows event logs really give no info as to the suspect file, etc. I have no reparse points. I am running system restore to see if I can find a point where everything works as it did.

Only remove the mounted volume reparse points (so check that the folder type is mounted volume).

How do I check the folder(s)? I followed MS's 'workaround 2' and, when I look at the <junction> points in CMD and try to find them in explorer, I can not find anything. Do you have some more instructions that they (always) left out?
