Win7 bad boot: missing services and apps crash on launch

Hi all,

Did a clean install of Win7 when I installed an ssd not too long ago, but since then have noticed some weird stuff happening occasionally on boot:

Startup applications don't run, applications that I run from the taskbar (e.g. chrome) crash when started, and the windows start menu items aren't clickable. Very strange stuff indeed...

When I force a restart (manual button on case as shutdown button on start menu doesn't respond to my clicks) the next time it loads its back to normal.

Any ideas/insight as to what this may be due to? Spec is in signature, and feel free to ask for more info

Hehe, no, but I do a clean install about once a year but this is the first time this has happened.
