This sounds like you have not installed the graphic drivers required and is using the default graphics chip on the motherboard.
Head to the Radeon drivers site and download the latest drivers for your system and you not only be able to use the GPU to process stuff but also use a much higher resolution.
^ For a laptop, you don't really want to use the generic ATI (AMD) drivers. Better to get them off HP's web site. If you read what they say about laptop drivers on their site (AMD or nVidia), it's always "you should get the drivers from your vendor".
It's a bit odd that the drivers were not working right out of the box for a new system.
i have 2 questions..
how can i know the exact type of driver..it is ati but i dont know the kind exactly..
and should i unistall the previous drivers??

If you go to HP and look for your model drivers you'll get the right one. No need to uninstall the old one, the new one will install over it.
