Okay so first the dummy question: Why is this subforum called "Windows Legacy" and not "Windows 8"? I've never heard of/seen Win8 referred to as "Legacy".
I have Win7 64-bit and I like it very much. It runs great. Very stable. Foot massages, happy endings, the whole nine yards. I hate Microsoft. I also hate Window 10. When Win10 was first released the amount of spyware and usurpation of basic, fundamental User's Rights was extraordinary, and people were getting kicked off of forums for telling the truth about what it was, what it was doing and what it all meant ("software as a service", in particular as well as "who owns the content on Microsoft's (and not your) computer. To give some sense of "political predisposition" to explain why Linux is in the title.
I've had Win8 installed on a separate partition on my data storage drive for over a year. Originally I installed it just to experiment with it, and get used to it. It's almost identical to Win7 IMO, with a few minor differences that I can learn or tweak very quickly. Also, performance-wise I remember reading a comparison chart between 7, 8 and 10 and long story short all were equivalent; each had it's own strengths and weaknesses and none of them were so significant as to make any of them the "clear winner". In case anyone wants to post that "Operating System X" is clearly the best. That's a non-starter, IMO. I'm more concerned with system stability, privacy, rights, and the ability to prevent MS and other corporations from "doing things" that I would not want done if I knew they were doing them. I know I'm talking myself into Linux as I type this, but I'm very comfortable with Windows and Linux irritates me to no end. Linux Users are also irritating, which means going online and asking for help (from Linux Users) is REALLY irritating. "All you have to do is open XTERM and type in 45 lines of incomprehensible noise and everything should be just fine." Until NEXT time. Sudo Fthat.
Which then makes me think Win8. But how long until MS pulls the plug on that one?
Anyways, that's my personal context. Any help appreciated and thanks in advance.
