WinACE probably shouldn't use any commands that charge BTUs when one logs in (I
think its the strength command that does that)

probably the strength command shouldn't charge BTUs, the reason it does was
because it was too CPU intensive in the past, not sure if that is still a
problem

probably the whole concept of BTUs ought to be eliminated, it doesn't really
make any sense to me, mainly what it does in practice is limit shell fire

another WinACE feature probably ought to be some autoshell variable, so that
when an enemy ship is spotted by coastwatch, forts in range shell it until sunk
according to some variables the player would set (like, fire until hit by
return fire, replenish shells/guns/mil, probably some other things players will
think about)

by the way, does anyone know how to stop WinACE from giving a "strength"
command on its own? The damned thing keeps wasting BTUs

The problem is where to stop. Auto create units ? Auto attack neighbouring
sects at update ? Auto managed mission to have a nice cover with decreasing
range and decreasing plane number ? Auto generate traffic and activities to
generate news ? Auto manage food ? Auto everything ?

The solution is not in the client but in the server/game design. We should
solve the issues, not put in place some automated workaround.

Does this belong into a (smart) client or the server?

any such enhancements should be of the nature of the player ordering
the server to behave in a proscribed manner.
