Too make a long story short, my son accidentally spilled a full glass of water into his computer, in the middle of the night, when reaching for it. Lot of damage, and have since replaced his mainboard and processor.
With his main drive connected, I couldn't even get the Windows installation to start, so I put a spare 500GB drive in. Everything went fine from there, everything's installed and working great.
However, when I connected his old drive (not set as a boot option in BIOS), and booted up, it seems to have slowed the startup process. When I finally got to the desktop, I found I had access to the drive. But...Windows 10 is no longer there, nor any other files or folders that were originally there. All that's there now are a LOT of dump*****.tmp files, all approx 600MB files.
Any idea what these are? I'd originally hoped I could recover some files for him before formatting the drive... 🙁
