Why is this a hard concept to believe?

As with all recent Windows versions.
Regular Support ends on Date X. Extended Supports ends some months/years later.

Extended Support is generally only for security issues.

You can use it, until some date in the (relatively) far future.

You probably won't be using the same hardware in 2025 or 2029. Microsoft may or may not continue 'updating' Windows 10. Or it may be called something different. Or it may be just called "Windows", with no particular number after it.
