Hey guys, so my brother recently gave me his old gaming pc, I had an msi 970a sli krait, fx 6300 and 8gb hyperx beast. He gave me anow asus sabertooth 990fx, fx8350, and 8gb patriot. So I used all his parts, but the problem is his ram. I am currently using both the 2x4gb hyperx beast, and the 2x4gb patriot memory. I know it's not ideal, but they are the same speed so I figured there wouldn't be much of a problem.

The first thing is that my system is only showing 12gb ram, but I'm pretty sure one of the sticks of ram just isn't seated properly, and it's easy enough to to fix. The main problem is that it shows, 12gb ram, 3.92gb usable.

I know that any 32bit version of Windows can only utilise 3.92gb of ram, but I have checked and double checked, and I am definitely using Windows 10 64bit. I can supply pictures if you need them, just to prove it.

So what could be making this happen? I am planning on going through each stick of ram and booting with one stick then adding more, but it's late and my sons asleep, so I'll do it tomorrow, but for now I just wanted to get your guys opinions.

Thanks guys

Thanks. I didn't add any new memory and the weird part is that Windows 10 is recognizing all 16GB. and says over 12GB is free. It just isn't using it even when I launch games or numerous programs at one time it never uses more than 4GB. So strange. I am having the same issue. I have 16 GB Ram Installed and it is recognized but Windows 10 64bit won't utilize more than 3.92GB or ram. I have no message that only that amount is usable.

Hey Paul, I managed to get mine fixed, but I'm not sure if it'll help, I removed the 2 new sticks of ram that I added, they were from a different manufacturer, so I'm not surprised that was the problem. I tested both sets of ram individually and they both worked, but when I used both together, it was showing 3.92gb usable. So maybe try removing sticks of ram and trying them one at a time.
