I bought some new items to upgrade my computer :
MSI Z97 PCMate Mobo
Corsair H60 CPU Cooler
Corsair Carbide Spec-2 Case
Sandisk SSD 240 GB

I kept all of the same stuff like my old graphics card ( GTX 970 ) and my CPU and ram and old 2 TB HDD which also loads my 150 GB OS.
About an hour into my new pc after some wonky fans and rearrangements, I noticed the "Activate Windows" text at the bottom right of my screen. I looked into it and I was right about having my new motherboard causing it to show up. So I was dumb and didn't troubleshoot it and I looked up some random serial key. I put it in then saw that I had to troubleshoot to get rid of it. I troubleshot and put in my Microsoft login info and it says that there is no serial ID linked with it. I have reset my PC numerous times in the past and used different accounts than the one I have now and I really don't know what to do. Please help!

Ooooh.... NEVER enter in some random key from on-line. Its the fastest way to get the dreaded "pirated copy" warning... with the potential of legal action... ESPECIALLY with how much data Win10 collects and kicks back to MS. I assume this wasn't an OEM version? If it was, it will be a bit harder to fix, but not necessarily impossible.

What you need is the account you used when you originally installed Windows. If you can't remember that account what you'll probably need to do is talk to Microsoft to fix the issue and hope they'll be lenient and understanding. (They can often be.)
