Windows 10 and Office 2007

Hope I'm in the right place, and also hoping someone can help me. I've installed Office 2007 along with Windows 10 and I can't get Office 2007 to retain my set defaults (font, margins, line spacing etc).

I've tried everything I know.

One thing I haven't tried is to modify the default template (doctm?) but that's because it isn't in the location it's supposed to be.

Can anyone help because the default Office 2007 defaults (Calibri, margins etc) are horrible.

It is called "normal.dotm" in 2007.

It works for the main part. The only thing is when you right click and select 'New Document' from the menu, it doesn't open with the modified defaults. Otherwise, left clicking on the Word doc. to open it up does work
