Windows 10 anniversary update tried to install on my PC last night. Everything was working hunky-dory when it says my computer into a restart cycle conflicting with AVG Watchdog. I cut the power manually and quickly pressed Shift to access a restore point. All my restore points were wiped out. Nbd since I backup files regularly and can do a clean install. After 3 attempts to do a clean Windows 10 install, it will not complete. It goes through the Windows install percentage screen, then about after 20% it keeps getting stuck on a black screen with spinning dotted circle. It ran for several hours last night then stopped. Now I am trying again and this time it's been running for a half an hour spinning with no change.
Can't get into safe mode and diagnostics say everything is fine. Could this be the anniversary update taking a long time or something else?
Btw it's 64 bit Windows 10 free home. Whatever the free upgrade from 7 was. My factory partition with Windows 7 restore point also seems to be gone when I upgraded to 10 in June this year. Help!!!
