Can someone please help. 2 out of my 3 machines have encountered issues...some similar and some different. In this case, after having to reinstall my Bluetooth drivers, I'm having the following problems:
- In Device Manager it has renamed my Wireless USB adapter (a Netgear A6210 using mediatek drivers) by adding "#2" to the end. I have no idea why...but it is annoying. How can I change the Display name in Device Manager to take the #2 off?
- Under Network Connections in Control Panel, my Wi-Fi interface name is now Wi-Fi 4. It used to be Wi-Fi 2 (Wi-Fi is for the disabled internal 802.11n Wifi adapter). When I try to rename the 4 to 2 it says I can't because there is already a name with that. I can't find it anywhere in the registry nor as a hidden device in device manager. How can I delete old network interfaces and their associated names?
Not showstoppers...yet...but very annoying how much work I have to put into trying to fix the problems that the Anniversary Update causes. On my other machine, I had to reinstall Synaptics drivers after they were removed and right now the lock screen image is "black" when recovering from sleep, and the little animated balls don't show in the restart and shutdown screen. I'm hoping Microsoft pushes some updates fast as I know I'm not the only one with these...not to mention having fun getting rid of Windows.old when Disk Cleaner doesn't do it and removing the Recovery partition the update makes!
