Hi,
Wondering whether anyone can offer some help.

Windows 10 has decided not to boot - black screen, "please insert boot device"

I've tried the following:
  1. Checked boot drive shows on POST and in BIOS >> identified in both
  2. Checked BIOS time + date is still good >> confirmed good, no CMOS battery issue
  3. Reset boot order to boot from SSD >> fails to boot
  4. Booted from old Windows installation >> boot drive and files are visible
  5. Attempted USB recovery startup repair x3 >> failed (as per usual, completely useless in my experience)
  6. Confirmed boot drive can be found in DiskPart and that GPT has *
  7. Tried bootrec.exe / scanos >> no OS
  8. Tried /fixmbr >> success, but scanos finds no install
  9. Tried /rebuildbcd >> success, but scanos finds no install
  10. Tried bcdboot d:\windows >> rebuilt boot files, but scanos still finds no install
  11. Tried bcdboot d:\windows /s d: >> created bootfiles, scanos finds no install
My last set of notes in my it says "gave up, formatted and reinstalled"... can anyone save me from the same fate this time?!

Thanks!!

So... I thought "I'll just try a restart"... and it booted...

Other than feeling a bit of a numpty, I'd love to know which of the things I did actually fixed this to help others in the same circumstance!
