So I built my computer about a month ago. No problems, everything has worked fine thus far. I restarted my computer today and it came back on but my brightness was considerably lower. Thought it might have been my TV (it is connected to my 50' Vizio) but that wasn't the issue (connected my mac and brightness was fine).

Looked on google and reddit to see what fixes there was and here is what I have tried that does not work:

Uninstalling, installing, disabling, enabling, and updating my display adapter (Gefore gtx 980)
Tried instilling the Microsoft Basic Display adapter in place of the gtx 980 driver
Uninstalling, installing, disabling, enabling, and updating my monitor adapter (Generic PnP)
Tried disabling and enabling the windows 10 automatic brightness setting (this did nothing)

Basically, there is no option anywhere on my PC to change brightness. Not in display setting, not under power options, not on my system tray — nothing. I don't even see/have the Windows 10 Mobility center others have brought up. I don't have a restore point set up cause my PC is still so new. Oh, and added inconvenience, every time I try to do anything with my drivers my system tray disappears and my trashcan randomly moves back to the top left? The heck?

I'm 100% others have had my issue, but is there anyone else out there who's tried all this and STILL not been successful?

Re-install your drivers with a clean install option and delete any settings. That should fix it.

If not, this issue is NOT with your PC, rather with you and your mac. The brightness of the display generally only gets controlled by the display, so go to the TV's settings and fix it there. Most likely you changed the settings to deal with the mac's "horrible" gamma settings and that's screwing up everything else.

How would I reinstall with a clean install option?

Regarding your second point, I can't 100% say your wrong, but I switch my TV from my PC to my Mac everyday and have never had an issue there. Not to mention I began having the brightness issue yesterday before I hooked it up to my mac — not after. Besides, I played around with my TV's brightness settings already and that didn't do the trick unfortunately.
