To start, I'm no guru but I'm capable of following directions and I need your help. I used to go to PC pitstop before they appear to have gone mainstream/commercial. I have a ~3 yr old HP 8100 tower, with the i7 2600, that has recently started having some frequent BSOD. I ran some generic anti-virus test and malware removers but no avail. I am unable to start in safe mode, unable to restore old image, unable to troubleshoot. I thought maybe it was hard drive/registry and was willing to wipe everything with a USB install. I tried to re-install on the old HDD but it stopped before it ever really got started --> BSOD. I bought new SSD and tried with it. It will install but on first load it goes to --> 0xc00021a. I tried to rename the system32/config to old, then go to regback but my regback folder is empty. I can't even do a new install. Any pro tips?

Where did you get USB installer from?

try running memtest86 on ram, I find errors caused during installs can be ram. It creates a bootable USB so can run without windows. Any errors it finds are too many, perfect and only score ytou want is 0. Check 1 stick at a time

that error you got on ssd, is very odd to find on a fresh install - https://appuals.com/how-to-fix-error-0xc000021a-in-windows-8-and-10/

Colif - I downloaded the windows install media for USB. After I made my post, I finally figure out you have to use escape to get into the computers bios, diagnostics area (HP not my fav). I did the native version of what you said with the memory test and turns out I had a bad stick of RAM (Kingston Fury). Thanks for the sound advice. I removed one stick of RAM and now up and running without issue on the new SSD that I probably didnt need to buy...Thanks for your help!
