[SOLVED] windows 10 clean install

I just upgraded my old gaming system and one of my laptops to windows 10. I will do a clean install on my rig in sig. Anyone having any issues? And i saw,on Microsoft website that you must update to windows 10 first to transfer your license key from your old version of windows to windows 10. Then you can download windows 10 as an ISO file and do a clean install becasuse your system will be linked to windows 10 from the first upgrade.. there has got to be an easier way. Any thoughts?

No, that IS the way. The Upgrade has to see a valid qualifying OS first. Then you can clean install after that.

Round 2... how long would you wait to do the clean install. I was thinking 3 months to get the major bugs patched. What do you think?

My systems will be upgraded in stages.
1. the testbox laptop (Win 7) - sometime before the weekend
2. the HTPC (Win 7)
3. the wife's PC (Win 7)
4. My main box (Win 8.1)

Time? I'm in no real hurry, except for #1.

Yea i have my daughter gaming and mutlitasking on the old gaming system . My other daughter is testing on the older laptop with office and such. My new laptop is waiting and rig in sig will be last to go..

You don't need installation media to do a clean install. Under Settings -> Updates & Security -> Recovery you can perform a reset that will automatically wipe and reinstall W10.

You can do the Recovery or Reset thing. But I would get that ISO anyway. Can't hurt.

I guess i would like the hard copy on dvd. But would the flash drive be a faster install.?
