Shut my pc off last night and windows updated or something when I shut down. This morning windows won't boot; it's getting stuck at the windows logo.

I've tried restarting multiple times. Sometimes it boots to the 'automatic repair' with the logo, but ends up doing nothing. It will sit at that screen for a bit then go black and nothing happens.

I have a USB with windows 10 on it, but apparently BOOTMGR is missing, so I guess it's not an option now.

Im not sure where to go from here.

I got a working windows 7 disc and empty drive, I was going to try doing a 7 install to figure it out if there was nothing else.

Edit:
I booted and left it for a bit while I did some other stuff. It's now 'scanning and repairing drive (E:)' and stuck at 0%. Drive E is just an extra media drive I have. Windows is on an ssd partition, obviously drive C:. Other partition on the ssd is B:, but I doubt that matters.

Still not sure how to get this working again. I'm leaving for class soon so I'll just see if it is magically booted when I come back.

So I figured it out. One of my old old 2.5" drives I was just using as media storage shit the bed. It was starting to act funky a couple months ago so i transferred all the media over, so there was nothing on the drive. That was drive E:.

My question now is why does windows shit the bed when an unrelated drive is bed shitting? What correlation is there? It shouldn't have had any impact on the boot as far as I can tell.
