Windows 10 degraded gaming performance

Hi guys, yesterday I formatted my ssd to install windows 10 upgrading from windows 8.1, when I started skyrim, my gaming performance decreased. In 8.1, it gave 50-60 fps on ultra, now, on windows 10, it runs on 25-30 fps with same settings. It's not just with skyrim, with all games. The windows is fully updated till the 6 December update.
Each and every driver is up to date.
My specs are
i7 4710mq @2.5ghz
Nvidia gtx 880m 8gb
16 gigs of ram
256gb ssd

Is Windows set to performance and not power saving or balanced? If no change it to performance.

Windows 10 also has a lot of Privacy settings you should play with, also realize that Windows 10 Auto Updates whenever the heck it wants, and if you have xBox stuff enabled, there's a default PVR setting to record gaming or something like that.

If FPS was higher with windows 8.1 then you should revert that version.

Yeah, i know. But before all this, when i had 10, my gaming performance was better than 8.1. Now suddenly its decreased. Hence, i reverted back to 8.1, but the performance problem still persists. All the fps indicators show 60,70, but it lags a lot. Tried reinstalling the chipset drivers, graphics drivers(stable ones) everything. Even the laptop is on high performance mode.

Being a laptop are you sure its not overheating and thermal throttling the CPU or GPU? Very common issue with laptops and gaming.

No. I cross checked the pre install thermal stats with the current ones. No over heating. The issue started just after 1 hr of formatting, before that, it was going smooth.

What are the CPU & gpu temps?

What's your HDD usage when gaming? Maybe HDD is wearing out.
