I went onto my pc, when I didn't get a predicted notification saying that windows 10 is ready to install. I went onto windows updates and installed the latest updates and it required restarting my pc. It restarted but no windows 10? I checked my update history and "Upgrade to Windows 10 Home" was there, but it's status was failed. I've checked for updates and it says I'm up to date. I not sure what to do.

Solution
You can try a clean install. Download the Windows 10 ISO file from Microsoft and then you can format the hard drive and install Windows 10.

Hope it helps.
That means you didn't get windows 10 update. As of now, Microsoft has released Windows 10 update only to those who are in Windows Insider Programme. You can expect Windows 10 update in the mid of August.

Solution
I think once he gets the download, and runs it, it will see if he's running either 7 or 8.1, and do the update.

(After above 'Best Solution' Follow up: I guess he doesn't need to keep his previous programs/settings, as I was able to.)

I had same problem and right clicked the windows 10 update logo on lower right of screen then clicked windows update it directed me to windows update page click search for updates after a few seconds it found w10 update and install update appeared click install and it installed perfectly
