My second drive (an HDD) has almost failed and is making using Windows 10 very difficult. I will have a replacement drive for it in about ten days with I will replace it with then.

In the meantime, I propose using the Disk Management feature in Windows 10 to temporarily delete the failed HD until then? Does anyone see and problems in doing this?

You can't delete a HD. You can delete its partitions if that's what you meant.

How is it actually making your windows 10 unusably difficult?

You can also right click the disk and then mark it as "offline" which disables it.

And as rgd1101 said, you can simply unplug it.

As suggested in your other thread

.....physically disconnect it.
This would take about 2 minutes.

You're going to have to open the case anyway, for the new drive.

My faulty Drive D; has now stated to work again although utilities are saying that it will not last much longer.

I hope I can leave it installed and transfer the data on it to the new drive which should arrive in a few days.

I do have a pagefile on this drive. Should I delete it in Windows Performance options?
What?

You change virtual memory settings.
Set no paging file on D : .
And enable paging file on C: .

Mine shows the pagefile on D: not C:. Are you querying whether I should delete it?
Why are you asking the same thing again, that has already been answered?

You change virtual memory settings.
Set no paging file on D : .
And enable paging file on C: .

After changing settings, you'll have to reboot and old pagefile should get removed.
If it doesn't get removed, then you can delete it manually.

Show your virtual memory settings, when you're done.

Interesting. I think that having the page file on the defective D: drive is what was causing the majority of the problems I was having accessing it. Now I have removed the page file I have reasonably good access to it, hopefully to transfer the files on it to my new drive, when I install it.
