Every time I start my system after unplugging and moving it, either I get to the Win10 screen and it doesn't load (only shows windows icon) or it appears to be loading, but then the display shuts off (no signal from HDMI cable).

My solution is to unplug everything that is non-essential, then it starts up, no problems.

I move my computer around a lot for work (always in a protected case), so this is a big problem for me. Not sure where to go for answers on this problem though (hope Win10 forum is the right place to start!).

Try turning off fast start up - https://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/4189-turn-off-fast-startup-windows-10-a.html

Win 10 isn't off when you shut it down, it goes into hybred hibernate and saves a copy of drivers + the kernel to ram so that when you start it up again, its already half loaded and takes less time to load. Downside is, if you unplug PC while its off, you stand a chance of losing data.

Turning off fast startup means the PC is actually off when shutdown and unplugging it doesn't do any damage. It just means start up might be a little slower if you have a hdd. There is no benefit to running it on an ssd.

Thank you, I will give that a try. Ironically, it started up fine this time.

Could it also be a graphics/display issue? Do you know of something I could do to check that?

It could be a driver problem, check on your motherboard web site for new drivers/BIOS as if they are old they might not play nice with win 10's new power schemes.

I have opposite problem, i find PC doesn't start right all the time if I have fast startup turned off. Even with an ssd I get more consistent startups with fast startup on. This morning it decided it didn't want to show my login box and I had to restart to get it to work properly. then on restart it came up telling me my password was wrong but I hadn't entered one yet... random.

Weird... well good to know that start-up issues abound. I'm more technically familiar with Macs, PCs are still a whole new world for me. Appreciate the knowledge. I'll look into solutions, but so far, I haven't had any issues!
