Windows 10 doesn't support my microphone

Hello everyone!

My windows 10 laptop doesn't recognize the microphone of my headset when I connect it in the audio jack. Only the sound works. I've tried with many different headphones. If I connect my wireless headset via Bluetooth, both the sound and microphone work fine.

Thanks for your help!

(My headphones aren't anything fancy, just typical smartphone headphones).

Edit: I have downloaded all the newest drivers.

Then I'll bet you dollars to donuts (silly expression when a donut costs $1.50) that that is a headphone jack, not a headset jack. Three wire, left and right audio, no mic. Your only option in that case would be a USB headset.
Your headphone jack is either broken or does not support a 4-pole cable.
What make and model computer do you have?
is there one headphone jack, or one for headphone and one for mic?
What make and model of headset do you have?

MY best guess would be that you are plugging a 4-pole headset into an actual headphone jack. But let's get a little more detail.

My laptop is a Windows 10 Acer Aspire ES 15 ( ES1-533-P1YQ).

There is only one jack.

Currently I am using some generic Hands-free headphones. I have also tried the handsfree that came with my Sony Xperia Z5 and the headphones that came with my friend's Galaxy J3. I have also tried Sony's In ear Stereo headset. The speaker and microphone off all the above work perfectly with my Ps4 and every phone I 've tried them on but the microphone doesn't work on my laptop.
