Windows 10 DVD Installation

I'm building a gaming pc and I bought a DVD for the windows 10 installation software. Can I buy a cheap external optical drive to install the windows 10 software? Will the system not recognize the hard drive that I've plugged in since it will be a custome built pc? Or is there another way where I don't have to spend money where I can transfer the software installation to a USB and then use that. Please help me.

It should recognize it. however, you could download windows 10 on a USB stick using the Windows Media Creation Tool, and boot from the USB.

in your situation it would be better to just get an 8GB USB stick and use that to install windows
