windows 10 dxgkrnl.sys

I have tried everything I could find on the internet, which most of them were useless. so here is the problem. I cant bootup to windows, I also cant boot up into safe mode. if I boot up normally, it just gives me a black screen and then my computer turns off, and restarts. If I try to launch it into safe mode, it gives me the bsod error: dxgkrnl.sys. All the other tutorials say to just install the lastest driver, but I cant because I cant access windows. thank you in advance.

my specs:
windows 10
evga gtx 1070
asus z170-a lga
intel core i5 6600k
750 watt psu
wd blue 3tb
intel 540s 480gb
corsair 8 gb ddr4 ram
corsair h115i water cooling

You might need to do a clean install so backup anything off hdd using Ubuntu - try making this on another PC: http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows-vista/use-ubuntu-live-cd-to-backup-files-from-your-dead-windows-computer/

boot from installer
follow this guide: http://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/1950-windows-10-clean-install.html

when you reach the screen asking for licence, click "I don't have a key" and win 10 will continue to install and reactivate once finished

On the screen where you choose where to install win 10, if it gives you an error about GPT drives, delete...

how would I install this on my pc? I tried using the recovery console to execute the exe file, and I tried moving it over to the hard drive and then doing it. But none of those worked, how would you install it through recovery mode? cause I also tried to just use the device.

op says he can't boot into normal windows so its not really helpful :)

Have you tried removing gpu and using integrated? most dx errors caused by gpu drivers, not the card itself. Its odd that it crashes in safe mode though.

thats an odd error, you might be best doing a reset
is there anything on C drive you want to rescue? try making this on another PC: http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows-vista/use-ubuntu-live-cd-to-backup-files-from-your-dead-windows-computer/

once you have copied everything off C you want to save, go into the blue menus you are using to get to safe mode
choose troubleshoot
choose reset this PC
choose keep files/settings (Files = contents of library folders like documents, music, pictures, movies. Settings = logins, desktop)
PC will restart and reinstall win 10 and should fix the complete lack of DX

thank you for your reply, but it gave me an error: there was a problem with reseting your pc. no changes were made.

i edited post while you replied, check if removing gpu and running off motherboard helps before continuing to read this reply

use ubuntu to copy files off Drive, might need to fresh install instead since you can't get into windows

standard install instructions:
on another PC, download the Windows 10 media creation tool and use it to make a win 10 installer on USB

change boot order in BIOS so USB is first, hdd second
boot from installer
follow this guide: http://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/1950-windows-10-clean-install.html

when you reach the screen asking for licence, click "I don't have a key" and win 10 will continue to install and reactivate once finished

On the screen where you choose where to install win 10, if it gives you an error about GPT drives, delete all the partitions on the hdd and press next. If it still gives error, cancel out of the installer and restart PC and start installer again, it will accept next on that screen this time (some PC just need a restart here)

Ok, i tried to do the installation of windows 10, and it won't let me. And I tried to download that dxgkrnl.sys file and move d it to my hard drive. Now my computer is getting the 0xc000021a error. (Sry for the late reply)

what do you mean, it won't let you? at what stage does it stop?

Like for replacing dxgkrnl.sys or the windows reinstallment?
Cause when I replaced dxgkrnl.sys, it gave me an error code 0xc000021, and now I am stuck with it.
As for the trying to reinstall windows part, it won't let me, I go on the install button, then choose the keyboard layout and the language. Then I press on the upper option after that screen. And it just says something. I forget what it said, but it won't let me do it.

your file has caused the new error. I dont even know how it works. all I know is that this file is the reason that is causing the new error: 0xc000021a. how am I souposed to use this file?

ok here is the whole thing:
Your PC ran into a problem and needs to restart. We're just collecting some error info, and then we'll restart for you.
#% complete
For more information about this issue and possible fixes, visit https://www.windows.com/stopcode

If you call a support person, give them this info:
stop code: 0xc000021a

(and by the way, the website doesnt even exist, so I dont know why they put the website in the thing)

so the upper option is Install now as the other option available on that screen is repair your computer. Curious what it is saying. The next screen after that should be where you click "I don't have a key" (the licence screen).

We can wipe hdd completely if need be,
boot from installer
on screen after languages, choose repair this pc, not install.
choose troubleshoot
choose advanced
choose command prompt
type diskpart and press enter
type list disk and press enter
this shows all drives available, DVD/USB and hdd, make note of hdd number
type Select disk X - where X is the number of the hdd you want to wipe, change X to that number and press enter
once the drive you want to install on is chosen, type Clean

then run installer again and see if it gets past that screen.

well, thats great and all. but i dont have a disk drive on my pc

is the disc drive comment in relation to Ubuntu? You can make it on a USB: https://tutorials.ubuntu.com/tutorial/tutorial-create-a-usb-stick-on-windows#0 and follow steps in above howtogeek link

You can also access your win 10 install through command prompt
I inserted my windows installation disk and opened the command prompt. I typed notepad in which obviously opened the notepad. From there I went to file > open which opened a file explorer. I plugged an external hard drive into my USB port, and I searched for all of my most irreplaceable files and copied them onto the external drive, then once I finished, I plugged my drive into my Mac and confirmed that all the files are all there.

ok so this is what I did.
I used the ubuntu to back up my important files.
I then proceeded to restarting the computer with the usb containing the windows media tool.
I did go to install now, then pressed: I dont have a key. which then I pressed: custom: install windows only.
which then I waited, and shortly after that it said:

Windows setup could not reinitialize the deployment engine. To install windows, restart the installation.

I restarted several times, but it gave me the same messages.
